Romano House

A beautifully remodeled hotel just a short walk from the main shopping/dining street. The rooms are spacious and very clean with high ornate ceilings, bed is very comfortable, and the service is friendly. The bar has a happy hour with drinks for only 5€ accompanied by a large selection of bar snacks. I stayed 4 nights and would happily stay again.

The hotel is a lovely place in the center of Catania. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, everything is clean and the service was excellent (cordial and welcoming staff). However, the bathroom door can’t be locked or even closed. Rather, you are supposed to gently push them because they are one of those swinging doors types. Also, there is a smell of dampness or moist all over the hotel and especially inside the bedroom.

This is a great little hotel, the staff is wonderful. It is on the edge of the red light district, be mindful of your surroundings if you are walking from the central train station to the hotel. My room was small but manageable with a queen bed. It was split between two floors, the bathroom was on the second level. The entire hotel has a strange layout but it is beautiful. I would recommend staying here if you are an experienced traveler and can manage navigating in a big city. The location is close to the city center and most tourists attractions are within walking distance.

The service at this hotel has been perfetto! Front desk gentlemen was helpful and courteous. Our room is fantastico. Spacious and clean! The hotel has a happy hour that is wonderful. Antonio makes the best drinks and the music is the spot on! The location is ideal and close to whatever you would need. Parking is close by too and affordable.

Beautiful large rooms, excellent air-conditioning, very clean, towels, bedding and room was cleaned properly daily, free mini bar which was replenished with fresh & sparkling water, soda and fruit juices, the staff were so friendly and helpful and we were politely greeted every time we walked past. Nothing was too much to ask from the 2 ladies and gentlemen on the desk. 10/10👍. The breakfast was actually really good as well, lots of variety to suit different tastes, excellent quality ingredients and plentiful amounts. The ladies in the restaurant were also very helpful and kept it clean and even helped guests make crepes/pancakes and smoothies etc. Again 10/10. The only negative points were that there was some work being done/decorating on our floor and it seemed to sit/stay in the same unfinished state for the 7 day stay. No chairs/table on our balcony, but other rooms seemed to. Small points but it's the little details that count. The balcony door handle was also loose and kept falling off, so needed a bit of TLC. *Location* The location really isn't going to be for everyone, Catania is a very poor city, the hotel's handy location for the city centre is great for getting around but, as another guest stated turn left out the door and you're fine, turn right however and you are into a very, very impoverished area and the red light district. Lots of unfavorable people lurking around and s*x workers sitting on chairs right on the road. The flip side is that it's a 2minute walk into the central street, 10mins from the bus station, 15 from the train station 15 mins drive from the airport, the main square and market is 5-10 minute walk. So couldn't be any better for that. The hotel also included free beach passes for sun loungers, parasol, entry and changing room onto a nice, clean private beach 10-15 minutes away on the local bus "D" which operated every 15-20 minutes to and from the beach. Which saved us paying €30-40 per person, per day at the beach.

Talk about amazing customer service! I stayed at the Romano House unexpectedly after a hellish 24 hours of travel, and the staff was so kind and welcoming. They helped me check the lost bag line at the Catania airport several times and retrieved a lost item from my room after I checked out. The rooms are modern and updated while preserving the original art of the building. Highly recommend if you are staying in Catania.
